Zelensky: Russia emerged after Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said Ukraine existed before Russia, accusing Russian President Vladimir Putin of distorting history to suit his political views.

Axar.az reports, citing Ukrainian media, that Zelensky described Ukraine as the successor to Kyivan Rus, a state he said was well known in Europe.

“Ukraine is the successor to Kyivan Rus, a great state well known in Europe. Russia did not yet exist at that time. Russia emerged after Ukraine,” he said.
