Putin calls territories lost by Ukraine ‘historical Russian lands’

Russian President Vladimir Putin has described territories lost by Ukraine as “historical Russian lands,” arguing that they do not belong to Kyiv.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, that Putin added that residents of the regions Moscow calls its “new territories” had voted in favour of independence and joining Russia.

“My attitude to this is that these are not their territories. These are the territories of historical Russia,” Putin said.
