Netanyahu threatens major West Bank operation

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to destroy a neighborhood in the West Bank city of Hebron from which gunmen involved in a shooting attack emerged.

Axar.az reports, citing The Times of Israel, that Netanyahu made the remarks during a visit to Hebron on October 23 alongside Defense Minister Israel Katz.

“We will evacuate the residents, we will go house to house, we will remove the weapons there as well, and all the terrorist infrastructure will be dealt with and destroyed,” Netanyahu said in a video statement released by his office.

He added that Israel was preparing a major military operation in the West Bank, which he described as the largest since Israel captured the territory in 1967.

Netanyahu also said Israel would remove homes built without permits along West Bank roads, citing security concerns for Israeli forces.

Katz said the shooting was part of a broader threat posed by Iran-backed groups and other organizations, which he accused of planning attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians to influence the upcoming Israeli elections.
