Russia announces ceasefire in Kherson direction

Russia will suspend fire in the Kherson direction from 4 a.m. Moscow time on October 27 to facilitate a humanitarian operation in the town of Oleshky, the Russian Defence Ministry said.

Axar.az reports, citing the ministry, that Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov announced the introduction of a “silence regime” in connection with the planned operation.

"In connection with a humanitarian operation in the area of the settlement of Oleshky in the Kherson region, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will cease fire in the Kherson direction and introduce a ‘ceasefire regime’ from 4:00 a.m. Moscow time on October 27, 2026," Gerasimov said.

The ministry said engineering reconnaissance would be conducted to ensure safety and that safe passage would be arranged for a humanitarian convoy delivering essential supplies to Oleshky in Ukraine’s Kherson region.
