Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Israel is preparing for the possibility of economic and banking sanctions and is developing alternatives to help the country circumvent potential restrictions on its financial system.
Axar.az reports, citing Israel’s Channel 10, that Netanyahu discussed the issue in an interview with journalist Roy Katz, acknowledging that he was concerned about the possibility of sanctions against Israel.
“You have to understand that there could be banking sanctions. You have to prepare for an alternative economy, and you know what it is — you know what the currencies are that circumvent this. I’m working on that as well,” he said.
Discussing the future of economic and security relations with the United States, Netanyahu said that Israel would not be able to continue relying on American aid at the levels it had received in the past.
“If you think we will continue receiving what I secured twice—tens of billions of dollars in American aid for the defense budget—prepare yourselves and get used to it. That won’t happen, because America has changed," Netanyahu said.
Asked whether blockchain could serve as an alternative to economic sanctions against Israel, Netanyahu replied: “One of them. Certainly. And I have already asked for a plan to be prepared for this.”
