Trump, Putin and Xi summit could reshape world order

A proposed summit between US President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping could accelerate efforts to divide the world into spheres of influence.

Axar.az reports that in an opinion article, Guardian writer Steve Bloomfield warned that such a meeting, planned for China next month, could weaken Western alliances and reshape the global order.

Bloomfield argued that Trump’s approach to Russia’s war in Ukraine and his administration’s reduced emphasis on traditional US allies could benefit Moscow and Beijing, while raising security concerns for Europe, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan and Australia.

He also highlighted potential economic competition over supply chains, technology platforms, fossil fuels and space capabilities, warning that closer cooperation between the three powers could sideline Europe and other regions.

"One summit wouldn’t turn an idea into reality, but it would send us down a very dangerous path. In Europe, it would have an impact beyond Ukraine if the US refused to help protect nations threatened by Russia. In east Asia, the withdrawal of the American security blanket would cause enormous problems for Taiwan, South Korea and Japan, as well as Australia," Bloomfield said.
