More than 1,300 arrested in France protests

French police arrested 1,314 people during nationwide protests against the rising cost of living on Saturday, while 53 officers and at least three protesters were injured, the Interior Ministry said.

Axar.az reports, citing France 24, that clashes broke out on the sidelines of largely peaceful demonstrations held in major cities across the country.

Authorities said police responded to 75 fires and reported that 24 shops had been looted. Several investigations have been launched into the incidents.

It was the second consecutive weekend of unrest in France, which is preparing for presidential elections in April and May 2027.
