Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has reaffirmed Iran’s position that it does not seek nuclear weapons and has the right to pursue peaceful nuclear activities under its international commitments.

Axar.az reports, citing ISNA, that during a meeting with Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman, Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Ibrahim Kalin, head of Turkiye’s National Intelligence Organization, Pezeshkian said that using the issue of Iran’s nuclear program as a pretext for pressure and simultaneously claiming readiness for negotiations undermined trust.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is not seeking to acquire nuclear weapons and, as a member of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), wants to continue its nuclear activities within the framework of its international rights and obligations,” Pezeshkian said.

“On this basis, Iran reserves the right to benefit from peaceful nuclear activities and expects these rights to be respected in accordance with international regulations,” he added.

The Iranian president called on Islamic countries to strengthen coordination and cooperation, respect national sovereignty and oppose aggression against countries in the region.
