Erdogan, Macron discuss bilateral and global issues

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has held a telephone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss bilateral relations and regional and global issues.

Axar.az reports, citing Anadolu Agency, that the two leaders also discussed the process of selecting the next United Nations secretary-general.

Erdogan said the new secretary-general should have the vision and experience needed to restore the UN’s role as the centre of multilateralism and effectively implement the necessary reforms.

The Turkish president also invited Macron to attend the COP31 Leaders’ Summit, which will be held in Turkiye.

Macron, in turn, congratulated Erdogan on Turkiye’s Republic Day.
