Iranian Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei has said that Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Pakistan expressed strong opposition to Israel during a recent four-way meeting in Tehran.
Axar.az reports that, speaking in a televised interview, Rezaei said Saudi Defence Minister Khalid bin Salman had warned him that Israel could target other regional countries after Iran.
“During the four-way meeting in Tehran, the countries were even more Hezbollah-aligned than some of our own friends. Everyone spoke firmly against Israel. Saudi Defence Minister Khalid bin Salman told me: ‘After Iran, Israel will go after Turkiye and then Saudi Arabia,’” he said.
Rezaei also raised the possibility of a reassessment of Iran's nuclear policy if hostilities resume, saying no official decision had yet been made to change the country's nuclear doctrine.
“So far, no new official or governmental decision has been made regarding a change in the nuclear doctrine. However, the question is being raised: if the war starts again, should we continue with the previous nuclear doctrine?” he said.
Rezaei also raised the possibility of Iran reconsidering its membership in the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).
“Furthermore, it is not clear whether, after a future war begins, we will remain in the NPT,” he said.
