Iran designates UK armed forces as terrorist organisations

Iran has designated the British Royal Navy and Royal Air Force as terrorist organisations and included the country’s foreign intelligence service, MI6, on its list of hostile groups.

Axar.az reports that Iran’s Foreign Ministry released a statement.

“The British Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) falls within the scope of Note 2 to Article 1 of the Law on Toughening Penalties for Espionage and Cooperation with the Zionist Regime and Hostile Countries Against National Security and Interests.

These measures were adopted by a decision of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council in response to London’s hostile actions over the past year. These actions include the UK’s involvement in the US-Israeli war against Iran by making its military bases and facilities available for use.

In response to the US designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organisation, the British Royal Navy and Royal Air Force have also been designated as terrorist organisations under the relevant law.

The British government bears responsibility for the consequences,” the statement said.
