Ushakov: Putin would answer if Zelensky called

Russian President Vladimir Putin would answer a phone call from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky if the latter reached out, Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov has said.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian Interfax, that Ushakov said Putin had never refused to hold talks.

"I think he would answer, of course. Putin has never refused to talk," Ushakov told journalist Pavel Zarubin.

He added that if Zelensky wanted to speak with Putin, he could travel to Moscow.

"He sends signals through various channels. If he really wants to talk, let him come," Ushakov said.

Ushakov also recalled that Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store had informed Putin during a phone call on October 27 that Zelensky wanted to speak directly with the Russian leader.
