Hackers claim to have breached Russia's state statistics agency, Rosstat, and extracted around 23 TB of data.
Axar.az reports, citing a statement by the hacker group Silent Crow on Telegram, that the operation was carried out jointly with the Belarusian group Cyber Partisans.
The hackers claimed to have gained access to around 25,000 machines across Rosstat's central office, regional branches and its Main Interregional Centre for Statistical Information Processing and Dissemination.
According to the statement, the compromised infrastructure included domain controllers, virtualisation and management systems such as ZVIRT, oVirt and VMware ESXi.
The group said it had accessed and extracted electronic document management systems, critical government information systems, databases containing statistical, economic and personal information, as well as materials from population censuses.
The hackers also claimed to have obtained around 2TB of restricted-access documents and information related to Russian military losses in the war against Ukraine.
In total, they said, approximately 23TB of data had been extracted, including databases, internal documents, official information, and files from employees' work computers.
Rosstat confirmed the cyberattack but denied that any data had been leaked.
