One killed, eight wounded in Alabama mass shooting

One person was killed and eight others wounded in a mass shooting outside Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama, following a college football game in the US on Saturday night.

Axar.az reports, citing the Associated Press, that the shooting occurred near the stadium after the annual Magic City Classic, where vendors had set up along Graymont Avenue.

Birmingham Police Chief Michael Pickett said most spectators and families had already left the stadium area when the shooting took place.

Police spokesperson De’Rell Freeman said one person had been detained for questioning and that multiple weapons had been recovered and secured.

The circumstances of the shooting remain unclear.
