Sarigul and Imamoglu reportedly clash in prison

A reported dispute has emerged between Emir Sarigul, the son of former Turkish New Party MP for Erzincan Mustafa Sarigul, who was arrested in a money-laundering investigation, and Ekrem Imamoglu, the former Istanbul mayor who is also in custody.

Axar.az reports, citing Turkish media, according to reports, Imamoglu confronted Sarigul during a prison visit, telling him, “You have betrayed Ozgur Ozel.” Sarigul, who recently made headlines over his statement concerning New Party leader Ozgur Ozel, allegedly responded: “Shut up, you fraud. You’re all frauds.”

It should be noted that Emir Sarigul, who was arrested on charges of “forming an organisation for the purpose of committing a crime,” made striking allegations in his statement to the prosecutor regarding the party’s founding process. He claimed that his father, Mustafa Sarigul, had provided financial support to Ozgur Ozel.
