Millions vote in US midterms to decide control of Congress

Millions of Americans are voting in the midterm elections on Tuesday, with the results set to determine which party controls Congress for the final two years of President Donald Trump's second term.

Axar.az reports, citing the New York Times, that the elections will decide all 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 35 of the 100 Senate seats, alongside governorships, state legislative positions and more than 140 statewide ballot measures.

Both parties are seeking to secure control of Congress, which would shape the legislative agenda and the administration's ability to advance its policies during the remainder of Trump's term.

Millions of voters had already cast ballots before Election Day, while polling stations opened across the country on Tuesday. Some voting locations in Florida were relocated because of flooding, and technical problems with ballot-scanning machines were reported in parts of New York.

The outcome of the elections will determine the balance of power in Washington and provide an indication of public support for the Trump administration.
