Israeli claims of Iranian chemical weapons divide US officials

Israel has shared intelligence with the United States asserting that Iran is considering the use of chemical weapons against its adversaries, The New York Times reported, citing U.S. and regional officials.

Axar.az reports accordiong to the NYT, some US officials view Israel’s intelligence warnings as an attempt to push Trump toward renewed military action against Iran, while others consider them credible threats to American interests.

Israel has shared some of the information with officials in Gulf countries. Some Gulf officials doubt Israel’s claims that Iran is planning chemical attacks, viewing them as an attempt to draw the US and its allies back into a more intense conflict.
