Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to examine the possibility of completely banning the production and import of energy drinks within one month.

Axar.az reports, citing Kyrgyz media, that the government has been given six months to introduce the necessary regulatory measures.

Japarov said energy drink consumption had exceeded 36 million litres in the first half of 2026 alone, warning that the trend posed a threat to public health and increased pressure on healthcare spending.

He added that the state was prepared to forgo 1.5 billion soms in annual tax and customs revenue generated by the industry to protect public health.
