IRGC says two oil tankers hit mines near Strait of Hormuz

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy announced that two oil tankers caught fire after striking sea mines near the Strait of Hormuz.

Axar.az reports according to the IRGC statement, one tanker struck a mine east of the Strait of Hormuz, while the second was hit inside the waterway while attempting to navigate routes designated by the IRGC as “unauthorized.”

The IRGC claimed that both tankers had switched off their navigation and identification systems and were attempting to leave the Strait of Hormuz via an unauthorized route with US support. However, the vessels reportedly struck mines, caught fire and came to a halt.
