Talliban has claimed the attack

Officials say deadly twin blasts in the Afghan capital appear to have targeted MPs.

Axar.az reports that. at least 23 people have been killed and dozens are believed to be injured following the explosions near the offices of the parliament in Kabul.

A suicide bomber reportedly blew himself up, followed immediately afterwards by a car bomber, in what authorities say seems to have been a coordinated operation.

The Afghan Taliban has claimed the attacks. It has been battling to overthrow the country’s western-backed government and to drive out foreign troops.

It follows a period of relative calm in Kabul.
