The law enforcement agencies enjoy high respect among the Belarusian people, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he spoke at the solemn parade to mark the 100th anniversary of the Belarusian police on 4 March.

“Today the law enforcement officers rightfully enjoy high respect among the Belarusian people. By tireless work, selfless service and spirit you protect the people of Belarus despite the danger. Belarus is proud of all those who maintain their professional integrity and set an example of decency and integrity. Belarusians respect real professionals who perform their duty effectively. Our task is to embody the best human qualities: responsibility, courage and readiness to come to help at any moment,” Alexander Lukashenko stressed.

The head of state pointed out that only by preserving the best traditions and the established practices, the Belarusian police effectively maintain the high level of public order in the country. Belarus will be working hard to strengthen its status as a safe state. “Success here depends on the clarity and coherence of our action, on the ability to correctly analyze the situation and make accurate decisions. Remember that in your job there is no place for negligence, incompetence and indifference. This is essential for maintaining people's faith in the ability of the authorities to protect the rights and freedoms of citizens. Crime retreats only when all the elements of the law enforcement system work effectively. Therefore, by strengthening the interior agencies, we improve other components of national security. Only when implemented together, these transformations can yield necessary results expected by the society,” the president said. Alexander Lukashenko noted that over the years, the law enforcement authorities have added many glorious pages to their book of history. “At all stages of history they were an example of courage and bravery. At the beginning of the last century the police had to fight a wave of banditry. They gained the unfading fame during the Great Patriotic War and the postwar years. We remember and deeply respect all those who did their utmost to defend the rule of law and people's interests. War veterans who had to go through many ordeals are an example of fair service to the Motherland. We are sincerely grateful to you for your feat,” said the head of state. The President expressed confidence that the personnel of the Interior Ministry will continue to effectively address its tasks and honorably serve their country. Alexander Lukashenko wished everyone peace, wellbeing, strong health and every success for the benefit of Belarus.
