Turkey detains 6 FETO suspects at Greece border

Turkish security forces have apprehended six Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) suspects, who were attempting to cross into Greece from Turkey’s border in northwestern province of Edirne on Friday.

According to the military source, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking with the media, the border guards intercepted ten people including children in Edirne's border district of Meric.

The source said that six suspects had been dismissed from their duties after the last year's defeated coup attempt in Turkey and the arrest warrants were issued for those apprehended.

One of the suspects was doctor, another was military non-commissioned officer and others were teachers, the source added. The children were also taken to the border post.

According to Turkey’s government, FETO and its U.S.-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup of July 15, 2016, which left 250 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.

Ankara also accuses FETO of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police and judiciary.
