Chelsea bomber found guilty, sentenced to life in prison

A federal jury convicted Ahmad Khan Rahimi, the man who set off multiple explosives in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood and in New Jersey in 2016, to a sentence of life in prison.

Axar.az reports citing Sputnik.

"Just over a year after his attacks, and following a fair and open trial, Rahimi now stands convicted of his crimes of terror by a unanimous jury of New Yorkers," Acting US Attorney Joon Kim announced in a press release on Monday. "As a result, he now faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison."

On September 3, a total of 29 people were injured in the explosion that hit New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood in Manhattan.

Another device was found in the region but it had failed to detonate.
