Igor Plotnitsky’s resignation as head of the self-proclaimed "Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR)" will not impact the process of the Donbass conflict settlement, Denis Pushilin, chief negotiator for the "Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR)" at the Minsk peace talks, said on Friday.

"The Minsk process will be continued in routine mode. Igor Plotnitsky’s resignation as the republic’s had will have no adverse impacts as he has been appointed the "Lugansk Republic’s" envoy for the implementation of the Minsk agreements," he told the Donetsk News Agency.

He also referred his congratulation to Leonid Pasechnik who had been appointed acting head of the "Lugansk People’s Republic" and expressed the hope "for the "LPR’s" progressive development and expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation" between the two republics.

Earlier on Friday, Igor Plotnitsky announced his resignation due to health condition. Minister of State Security Leonid Pasechnik was appointed acting head of the Lugansk People’s Republic until the next elections. According to Pasechnik, Plotnitsky was appointed "LPR’s" envoy for the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
