On Tuesday, during a speech at the Wilson Center in Washington, US State Secretary Rex Tillerson commented on several important issues that are on the top of the international agenda.
Brexit issue

Axar.az reports citing Sputnik that the prolonged process of the EU-UK divorce has attracted a lot of attention from the general public. Even the US top-level governmental official urges the European Union to increase its efforts to rapidly accelerate the Brexit process.

The United States is calling on the European Union to swiftly move forward and finalize the process of the United Kingdom leaving the block, also known as Brexit, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said at a press conference on Tuesday, noting that the US will maintain "longstanding" relationship with both the United Kingdom and European Union partners regardless of the Brexit outcome.

The secretary of state added that the United States will not in any way participate in or influence the outcome of Brexit.

Since British voters said "yes" to their country leaving the EU via a referendum about 18 months have already passed. In late March 2017, UK Prime Minister launched the United Kingdom's withdrawal process from the European Union. The Brexit negotiations between London and Brussels, which started on June 19, are expected to conclude by the end of March 2019, after which the two sides will likely adjust to new regulations during a two-year transition period.
Relationship With Russia

President Donald Trump's administration has recommitted to the US security relationship with Europe after efforts to reset relations with Russia failed, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said on Tuesday.

"Over the past ten months, we have embarked on a new strategic policy that bolsters European and American security, namely a recommitment to Europe in the wake of the failed Russia reset," Tillerson said during a speech at the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington, DC.

The relations between the US and Russia have been deteriorating for the recent years. The first major step was the Crimean reunification with Russia in 2014, that stipulated bilateral sanctions from the sides. The second one was the issue of the alleged Russian interference of Russia in the 2016 US Presidential election campaign, however, the Russian officials, the main media outlets, operating abroad refuted these allegations. Now Moscow has already responded with retaliatory measures.
