Turkey to allocate financial assistance to OIC

26 member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) owe $160 million membership fee, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.

He made the remarks at the closing ceremony of the 13th OIC Summit in Istanbul on April 15.

Erdogan noted that effective activity of any organization with such a debt is impossible.

Turkey’s president said that financial assistance is needed for a more dynamic activity of the organization.

“Turkey will render $2 million financial assistance to the organization,” Erdogan said. “$1.8 million of this amount will be transferred to the OIC, $100,000 to the Secretariat and $100,000 to the humanitarian aid fund.”

Then Erdogan announced the list of 20 countries which have no debt. Azerbaijan is among those countries.
