An analyst says the United States' strategy in Syria has failed, adding that Washington’s decision to keep its troops in the war-torn Arab country is meant “to save face”.

Axar.az reports citing Press TV.

“What has happened is a failure upon failure in Syria. The Americans have continued to strategically make a terrible mistake…, you are just seeing a tremendous amount of failure of strategy – a strategy basically to use the Kurds as ISIS 2.0 or al-Qaeda 3.0 is failing now that the Turkish government has decided … to protect Syria rightfully,” Scott Rickard, a former American intelligence linguist, told Press TV in an interview on Friday.

“So now you see a serious turn of events whereby the Americans have lost their NATO ally in their attempt to create war crimes against the Syrian government. It is a good turn of events for the Syrian people and for [Syrian President Bashar] al-Assad and certainly it is showing the Americans' strategy has failed not only from beginning but also until now,” he added.
