Japanese PM expected to visit Azerbaijan

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is expected to visit Azerbaijan, Kazunori Tanaka, director of the Department for International Relations of House of Representatives of Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party, told reporters in Baku May 5.

Azerbaijan is a very important country for Japan, Tanaka said, noting vast opportunities for the development of cooperation between the two countries.

“So far, Japan has cooperated with Azerbaijan primarily in the oil and energy sector. I hope that our relations in information technology, science, industry and other fields will further deepen as well”, he said.

Tanaka said that Azerbaijan is a country attractive for private companies.

He also expressed hope for the expansion of inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries. “We would like that either Azerbaijani MPs or Japan MPs make frequent mutual visits. We are very pleased with the development of Azerbaijan,” Tanaka added.

He also stressed the importance geographical location of Azerbaijan
