Chairman of Armenia’s Supreme Judicial Council Gagik Harutyunyan has stepped down.

Axar.az reports citing Aysor.am

According to Aysor.am's source, the SJC chairman Gagik Harutyunyan has submitted resignation application.

He was elected in the post on March 5, 2018.

The resignation follows the recent developments in the judicial sector.

On May 20 Armenia's PM Nikol Pashinyan urged citizens to block entrances to courts. Later a group of citizens were demanding Harutyunyan's resignation, claiming that he is in close relations with former authorities.
