Trump's anti-Iranian course, especially the withdrawal of the United States from the nuclear deal, has played into the hands of the country's far-right. This was shown by the results of the parliamentary elections. The influence of liberal President Hassan Rouhani has decreased. Trump's decision halted the democratization process that had begun.

Axar.az reports that the statement came from Russian orientalist Nina Mammadova in an interview with Nezavisimaya Gazeta.

"The positions of Ali Khamenei and IRGC have strengthened. This does not mean that IRGC dictates to the highest authorities and the presidential administration. It is not ruled out that Khamenei will change his views. A new nuclear deal with the United States is not ruled out. In that case, people will see that Khamenei did what Rouhani failed to do," she said.
