In the face of unprecedented losses from the coronavirus pandemic, the EU's budget needs huge investments.

Axar.az informs that, the statement came from European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in an article published in the Welt am Sonntag newspaper.

According to Leyen, now measures must be taken to overcome the crisis in the medium term:

"To do this, we need large-scale investments - like the Second Marshall Plan. The Union's strong budget must be central. We need to invest billions today to avoid a major catastrophe in the future."

The Marshall Plan is the name of a large-scale program implemented by the United States for the reconstruction of Europe after World War II.
