Spain eases lockdown, counts 132 new virus infections

As much of Spain moved to relax lockdown measures on Monday, it confirmed 132 new infections of the novel coronavirus without reporting daily deaths.

Axar.az informs citing foreign media.

The Ministry of Health changed its historical data set on Monday and now counts a total death toll of 26,834 -- around 2,000 less than before the revision.

With the new data reporting method, the ministry reported that just 50 people died of COVID-19 over the past week.

Spain's chief epidemiologist Fernando Simon said authorities had reviewed each individual case and cleaned the data of duplicates and deaths suspected but not confirmed to be of COVID-19.

He said this new method provided a more up-to-date picture of the state of the outbreak in the country.
