We have been keeping Russia away for 45 years - US

Russia must withdraw from the Middle East because it is playing a destructive role there.

Axar.az reports that the statement came from US Assistant Secretary of State David Schenker.

The diplomat said that for 45 years his country has been trying to keep Russia away from the Middle East:

"They (the Russians) are playing a destructive role in the Middle East. Frankly, we want them to leave the region."
