COVID-19 cases surpass 105 000 in Canada

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has exceeded 105 thousand in Canada.

Axar.az reports citing foreign media that according to the Health Ministry of the country, the number of active cases stands at 105,091, while 8,663 COVID-19 patients have died so far. Quebec (55,682) and Ontario (35,535) have seen the highest number of positive cases.

A total of over 68.6 thousand people have recovered.

Since the beginning of the epidemic, more than 2.88 million tests have been conducted in the country.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) emerged in late 2019 in China’s Hubei province, and the virus has spread to over 200 countries and territories since then.

On February 11, the WHO officially named the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as COVID-19, and on March 11, declared it a pandemic.
