Russia's COVID-19 tally exceeds 700 000

Russia confirmed 6 509 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country's official number of cases to 707 301.

Axar.az reports citing foreign media that according to the Operational Headquarters of the country, the death toll reached 10 843, with 176 fatal cases in a day.

So far, 481 316 have recovered from the virus.

Moscow lifted restrictions including compulsory travel passes on June 8, a move welcomed by residents who rushed out to enjoy the streets and parks. Many other regions lifted lockdown restrictions ahead of a July 1 national vote despite the pandemic.

However, Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency, Rosaviatsia, has extended Russia's ban on international flights until Aug. 1 due to the coronavirus.
