The main question is why Hagia Sophia was turned into a museum in 1934.
Axar.az reports that, the statement came from spokesman for the Turkish Presidential Administration Ibrahim Galin.
Recalling the establishment of the Republic of Turkey in 1923, Galin said:
"Ataturk waited for 11 years. This issue should be investigated from a historical point of view. Hagia Sophia has been an important topic for Muslims since then. There have been calls for it to be turned into a mosque."
Hagia Sophia was first used as a church, then as a mosque, then as a museum. And now it will be used as a mosque again. The closest place to its function is a place of worship.
