The real gross domestic product of the European Union will return to the level of 2019 only in 2022.

Axar.az reports this was stated by the Director of the European Department of the International Monetary Fund Poul Mathias Thomsen.

He said that after 2022, the European economy will need significant structural restructuring.

"We now expect real GDP in the EU to decline by 9.3% in 2020. In 2021, GDP growth will be 5.7%. The European economy will return to the level of 2019 in 2022.
