EU abandons US technology

The new goal of European countries in the field of the defense industry is to abandon US technology.

Axar.az informs this was reported by the German press.

"As a first step, the new models of submachine guns, helicopters and fighter jets, which are planned to be produced in the future, will be made free of US technology. The FCAS (Future Combat Air System), a German-French-Spanish joint project planned to fly in 2040, will be produced in the same way. One of the main goals here is to protect sensitive information," the statement said.

The newspaper writes that what motivates the Europeans to this initiative is the use of the international document regulating the US arms trade:

"Under this arrangement, the United States can control all weapons and equipment it produces, including after-sales. At the same time, it can veto the export of these weapons at any time."
