Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen met online.

Axar.az informs that, the statement came from the Public Relations Department of the Turkish Presidential Administration. The meeting focused on Turkey-EU relations and regional issues.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed that the Eastern Mediterranean issue is based on the unwillingness of the Greek and Greek Cypriot communities to count the rights of the Turkish community in Turkey and Cyprus with maximalist claims.

Expressing Turkey's readiness to meet with Greece, which has always been a supporter of dialogue to solve problems, Recep Tayyip Erdogan said it was important for Greece to appreciate the opportunity gained through diplomacy.

The Turkish President noted that the steps to be taken to renew the agreement between Turkey and the European Union, to revive the Customs Union and to simplify visas will pave the way for the development of relations.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also stressed the importance of being fair and responsible in the refugee issue.
