On June 8-10, Moscow hosted the 45th meeting of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Convention of the legal status of the Caspian Sea at the level of deputy foreign ministers.
Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov also attended the meeting, the Foreign Ministry informed.
Emphasizing the importance of the Moscow meeting in the light of the meeting of Caspian countries’ foreign ministers in Kazakhstan, the heads of delegations noted the need for a speedy completion of the work on the Convention on the sea’s legal status.
In accordance with a preliminary agreement, the discussion during the meeting focused on issues of navigation mode and jurisdiction of the coastal states in the Caspian Sea, delimitation of seabed and its subsoil use.
The delegations welcomed the outcome of the discussions.
The next meeting of the Ad Hoc Working Group will be held in Kazakhstan.
