Yerevan warns opposition

The state is ready to protect its citizens and state facilities against the opposition uprising.

Axar.az reports that the statement came from Andranik Kocharyan, head of the Armenian Parliament's Defense and Security Commission, commenting on the opposition's calls for a coup to RFE/RL's Armenian Service. He said the state had the authority to open fire in this case.

Earlier, the candidate for the post of Prime Minister of the Armenian Salvation Movement Vazgen Manukyan called on the population to be ready for an uprising against the government.
