Russia responds adequately, symmetrically and proportionately to US policy of confrontation.

Axar.az reports that the statement came from Leonid Slutsky, chairman of the Russian State Duma's Committee on International Relations.

"The expulsion of American diplomats and the recommendation to the US ambassador to Russia to go to Washington for consultations is an adequate and symmetrical response to the White House's policy of confrontation," Slutsky said.

Slutsky said there would be a strong response to US attacks.

"I am confident that these are not the last countermeasures, but that we will respond to the full range of US restrictions."
