The Pope spoke about the tension in Ukraine

In a speech in St. Peter's Square, Pope Francis expressed concern over the growing military activity in eastern Ukraine.

Axar.az reports that he called for a reduction in tensions and prayed for reconciliation.

"I will talk about sad things. I have been watching with concern the violation of the ceasefire in eastern Ukraine in recent months and the events in some regions. I see the intensification of military activity.

Please reduce the tension and do everything possible to reconcile."

Pope Francis also stressed the difficult humanitarian situation: "I express my spiritual closeness to the people and ask you to pray."
