Warning from Russia to PACE

Attempts by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) to put pressure on Russia in the case of Alexei Navalny will be perceived as interference in Russia's internal affairs and will affect Moscow's cooperation with the organization.

Axar.az reports that the statement came from Leonid Slutsky, chairman of the Russian State Duma's Committee on International Relations, in a telegram.

"At the opening of the spring session, PACE confirmed that the issue of Alexei Navalny will be considered in the format of urgent debates. The discussion will take place at the April 22 meeting," Slutsky said.

Slutsky said all this was nothing more than an attempt to put pressure on Russia's judiciary.
