This is Russia's response to France - the MFA

The summoning of Russian Ambassador to France Alexei Meshkov to the French Foreign Ministry, in our opinion, is part of a demarche agreed by the EU.

Axar.az reports that the statement came from the Russian Foreign Ministry.

"The ambassador made repeated statements on this issue. He stressed that the response was dictated by the decisions of the European Union on March 2 and 22, and a number of Russian officials were banned from entering these countries," the Foreign Ministry said.

The Russian ambassador was summoned to the French Foreign Ministry on May 3.
