China's population growth rate has averaged 0.53% over the past decade.

Axar.az reports that by the end of 2020, the country's population was 1.411 billion. Over the past decade, China's population growth has increased by a total of 72 million people. In 2020, the number of births was lower than in 1961.

The New York Times reports that declining birth rates and rising life expectancy in China will lead to a demographic crisis. It was also noted that this will harm economic growth in the country.

About 19% of the country's population is over 60 years old.
