Greece considers the incident involving a Ryanair flight from Athens to Vilnius, but made an emergency landing in Minsk, to be an act of state aviation.
Axar.az reports that the statement came from the Greek Foreign Ministry.
"Greece strongly condemns today's state hijacking. There were only 171 passengers on board, 11 of whom were Greek nationals. This act, which endangers the lives of all passengers, is unacceptable. We call for the immediate release of the plane and all passengers," the statement said. reported.
The Greek Foreign Ministry also condemned the detention of Roman Protasevich, the founder of Nehta, on board the plane.
