Elections can be trusted if all Syrians, including IDPs, refugees, and those in the diaspora, participate in a safe and neutral environment, free and fair political competition.

Axar.az reports that the statement came from EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.

He said that the elections in Syria did not meet any democratic rules, did not provide a solution to the problem in the country, and weakened efforts to find a solution.

"This election cannot ensure international normalization with the Syrian regime."

It should be noted that the presidential election in Syria was held yesterday.
