On May 30, the chairman of the Central Bank of Iran, Abdul Nasir Himmati, was dismissed by President Hassan Rouhani.

Axar.az reports that Hamid Purmohammadi has been appointed chairman of the Central Bank of Iran.

It should be noted that Himmati nominated his candidacy to run in the June 18 presidential elections in Iran. His candidacy was approved by the Council for the Protection of the Constitution.
