Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has congratulated his country's national volleyball team on its 3-0 victory over China at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics.

Axar.az reports that speaking on the phone with the captain of the girls' national team Eda Dundar, Erdogan said he was proud of the victory.

"You made me very proud. I watched the match from the first set. I express my love to all our girls. I will watch the match with Italy on the second day of the week," Erdogan said in a telephone conversation.
